Ageing and environment
We are a working group in the Department of Sociology at FSS MU and we research issues of age, ageing, and old age in sociological perspective. We have long been involved in the sociology of ageing, age discrimination, active ageing, and age mainstreaming. We participate in research projects for national and international institutions and provide consultations for implementation projects by state institutions and non-profit organisations.
Our areas of interest include, but are not limited to, home, housing, and environmental issues, social and pension policies, the labour market, family and partnership, social exclusion, lifelong learning, and technology. We provide expertise in the fields of social, cultural, and environmental gerontology. We use both qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches and process policy analyses.

CERA will undertake two new projects from 2023:
The first project is called Meanings of Food Intake in Old Age and its researcher is MARCELA PETROVÁ KAFKOVÁ. The project explores the eating habits of older adults as a result of social influences, cultural patterns and transitions as well as the individual agency.
The second project, entitled Institutions of Ageing Men, will be carried out by IVA ŠMÍDOVÁ. The research aims to challenge this approach by addressing the topic critically, providing an intersectional analysis situated in a context of a post-socialist country.
