Effects of Digitalisation in (post) COVID-19 Era on Quality of Life, and Social Inclusion of Older Adults (DIGOLD)

No description

The project will describe the effect of the COVID-19 related acceleration of the ICT usage on the heterogeneous group of older adults. It will evaluate the level and size of the change in their digital literacy and skills and try to identify the medium to long term effect of these (non)changes on the older people's quality of life and social inclusion. To reach this goal following activities will be performed: secondary analysis of the available datasets, new quantitative survey and qualitative in-depth interviews data. We employ a comparative and collaborative approach to find innovative ways to assess the macro-level societal influences brought by the profound social change and distinguish them from some of the previously known mezzo- and micro-factors affecting the affinity and adaptation to modern technologies in later life.

The Use of the Humanoid Robot in Promoting Active Ageing

No description

The project presents interdisciplinary research into the social and technological aspects of interactions between older people and the "Pepper" robot. The possibilities of using the robot to motivate seniors in community centres to become more active are explored, with a focus on active aging and a range of activities, such as education and socialization. The project will bring new applied knowledge, as, so far, the focus has been on the issue of care for the elderly rather than on the magnetic social actor of higher age. A further focus on the gender aspect of the interaction brings added value. The project will bring key knowledge on overcoming technological exclusion and the lack of technological socialization, which are important barriers to the acceptance of technology-supported care.

The electronic brochure will be freely available in a print-ready format to ensure its availability. These materials will be created within three years of project implementation.
